When the Giants Come to Town, It's Bye-Bye Baby

09.19.2007
Argh!

The Giants got it wrong twice. It’s “Talk Like a Pirate Day,” not “Play Like the Pirates Day.” And it wasn’t yesterday, it’s today.

P.M. UPDATE

Pastime

This show begs the question: If baseball is a dance, are the Giants the dorks who keep stepping on everyone’s toes?

Humor aside, Micah Owings is a pretty good pitching prospect.

His ERA is pretty decent overall for someone who debuted this season. He had pretty good minor league stats as well. I liked him enough to pick him up early in the season for my fantasy team. So you have to just give him his due, he will have games like this where he shuts down the opposing team.

Since the start of August, he has a 3.38 ERA in 9 games, 53.1 IP, 37 hits, 13 BB, 41 K (6.2 H/9, 2.2 BB/9, 6.9 K/9). His main problem has been the long ball with 9 HR or 1.5 HR/9. Opposing batters have hit .196/.264/.402/.666 against him in that period.

And he's only 24 years old.

True about Micah. Have him on my rotisserie team also, purely on spec for next year.

That being said, it's a whole lot easier throwing a 2 hit shutout against the Giants than.......perhaps any other team in the league.

Without Bonds in the lineup, I will have to agree with Boof on that point.

Still, the Giants just scored 8 runs the day before and hit well against Cy Young Brandon Webb.

When you 2-hit someone, I think you have to give that pitcher his due.
