When the Giants Come to Town, It's Bye-Bye Baby

4/25/08: The Dirty Dirty

Giants 3, Reds 1: Best pitching performance I've witnessed in person since this game. Sanchez almost answered my question from earlier in the day -- Which Giant starter will throw the first complete game of the year? -- and he did it without his change-up, according to today's accounts.

Weekend question: What's the best Giant pitching display you've ever seen? If you were in the house for Ed Halicki's no-hitter, you get bonus points.

In 1990, I was in the RF family pavilion at The Stick for a Sunday game in front of a packed house against the 1st place Reds (who went wire to wire that year and won the WS), when Scott Garrelts tossed 8.2 no-hit innings... Until Paul O'Neill crashed the party with a single over Uribe's glove.

2-hitter for Shawn Estes, don't remember the date or circumstances anymore.

I saw a Schmidt CG SHO at Dodger Stadium... 3 hitter. Giants won 2-0 on Benito and Big Cat solo HRs.

I remember that Garrelt's game. My older brothers had dragged me to their picnic for their highschool reunion at Yosemite Lake. I was listening to the game and wouldn't leave my transistor radio as it was tooooo exciting.

Probably something by Billy Swift, but the best for me was the end of 1985, Jim Gott pitched 7 innings of one run ball to beat Dr. K and the Mets.

I have to second the OGC, if that's the game that Estes also hit the Grand Salami
