When the Giants Come to Town, It's Bye-Bye Baby

Next Stop, South Side!

The always unpredictable Kenny Williams has traded Nick Swisher to the Yankees, according to this report. (Hat tip MLB Trade Rumors.) Does this clear a path for Aaron Rowand to return to the South Side of Chicago?

The Pale Hose do need a CF, but word seems to be that they are looking for speed and defense, rather than gamerificness.

I would still rather trade Winn than Rowand, but if it will open a starting spot for Schierholtz, I'm all for it.

Still, wasn't Swisher playing mostly 1B by the end of the season?

Shocking trade, are teams suddenly stupid this year or did Selig officially order one team in each deal to be stupid? Seems like every trade I hear is lopsided.

How is Swisher for Betemit and Nunez considered even? And I think Chicago gave up somebody else too. I like Betemit, but he ain't that good. Yankees also send Marquez and ChiSox sends Teixiera, Kanekoa Teixiera, a relief pitcher who had great stats. I guess ChiSox was desperate to dump salary or believe Swisher wouldn't rebound.

OGC, imo -

Rowand to the Sox for who cares

Winn slides to center

Schierholtz in right.

Winn's too good a player for what you'd get in return, I think.

Rowand is a better fit with the ChiSox than with the Giants, so I hope this happens for the sake of all involved, but I am not holding my breath. I think the Giants will either have to eat some Rowand's salary or send some prospects with Rowand (or both) to make such a trade happen, but this would be a great move if the Giants don't have to give up a bunch of young talent to make it happen.

Anyone wants Aaron Rowand PLEASE take him off our hands. I'd sell him cheap. Couple of A or AA "prospects" and it is 'adios' Captain Gamer.

Rowand for Vazquez anyone?
