And whaddya know, baseball’s general managers gather tonight in a swanky SoCal resort for their annual meeting, just as the country gathers tomorrow in long lines watched by imported lawyers to make sure no one gets shafted.
I wonder if Brian Sabean voted early. If not, and you’re reading this, No on 8, Brian! It doesn’t matter what Felipe Alou thinks; a “no” vote doesn’t mean you’re a messenger of Satan.
Here are a smattering of other tidbits from my crib sheet, for those who are curious: Yes on SF’s Prop. V (restore JROTC to SF public schools); Because of our dire fiscal mess, No this year on nearly all local and state bond measures except SF Prop. A (rebuild General Hospital), and Yes on Cal. Prop. 11 (independent redistricting).
While we wait for news from the GMs to roll in — though I don’t expect much splash this early — let’s open the threads just this one day to politics. What/whom are you voting for, and why? The ground rules: if you don’t like someone’s views, don’t get personal. Argue the idea. Keep it civilized. I’m trusting you to act like adults, even if some of you aren’t. Don’t make me use my awesome comment-deletion powers.
Most important, go out and vote tomorrow.
