Psst, Over Here. How Much for the Special Agent?

Vote 0 Votes

Lefty Jack Taschner has filed for arbitration, according to Chris Haft. He’ll get some sort of raise over his 2008 salary of $400,000, but if the two sides can’t come to terms, and the Giants fear a mediator’s largesse, they still can release him. Just like they did with Kevin Correia and Brad Hennessey. They went on to sign minor-league deals with the Padres and Orioles, respectively. (And as a side note, how about this quote from Pads GM Kevin Towers about Correia: “He has a plus fastball with sink. I always liked him when he was on the other side. Healthy, we've got a chance for some upside here.”)

Quick, on with your front-office hat: Would you try to negotiate a contract with Taschner to avoid arbitration? How high would you go? One year? Two years?

If he goes to arb, how much do you think he’ll make?
