Game On!

So far, so dry. I'll keep up some running commentary, with the latest entry at the top:

- Jeremy Affeldt in for the 7th. Apparently Bochy hasn't looked at matchups, or doesn't care. Fielder just doubled and is now 4 for 8 against Affeldt lifetime. Mike Cameron is 5 for 12. He just walked.

- OK, Nate Schierholtz. How jumpy are you? The guy on the mound just walked two guys in a row to force in a run. Are you going to take a pitch? Answer: Yes. But only one. On the 1-0 count Schierholtz grounds to first. Inning over.

- Bottom of the fifth: Pablo "Kung Fu Panda" Sandoval just chased strike three on a ball at his eyes. All he had to do was put the ball in the play on the ground for a run. Not cute and lovable. Now Ishikawa pops up, Lewis holds at third. It's up to Rowand -- nope. He walks, I think they were pitching around him. Now Burriss. But if they were pitching around Rowand, why start Burriss with a curve, as Jon Miller points out? Ouch! Burriss walks on four pitches. (Ouch for Milwaukee, that is.)

- It's a high drive, deep to left field, and it's up against the wall! Lewis rounding second, coming to third, the throw goes toward third and is cut off! It's a long single for Bengie Molina.

- Aaron Rowand, first Giant dinger of the year! The pitch he hit was as fat as fat can be.

- Joe Martinez: Live by the sinker, die by the sinker, right? That's what Flemm on the radio was just saying. After all, the Brewers just got three ground ball singles, two runs, then a ground ball double play. But according to the Gameday pitch tracker, one of the singles and the double play came on curveballs, not sinkers. Another thought on Martinez: Does he throw anything but sinkers and curves?

- The top of the third was ugly. Lincecum up to 78 pitches, and we're seeing Joe Martinez make his major league debut today. He's coming in for the fourth. Uh-oh. If Lincecum were feeling healthy but out of whack you'd think the Giants would let him go at least one more. I am nervous.

- 4-2 Giants, heading to the third, with the big Milwaukee bats coming up for their second look at Lincecum. Key inning.

- Tim Lincecum just gave up a run-scoring double with two outs to Jeff Suppan. Ugh. It was a -- guess what? -- hanging changeup after three fastballs and a curve. Lincecum is all over the place. Is it opening-day nerves? Something mechanical? Double-ugh: Weeks just drove in Suppan, hitting a belt-high fastball the other way with authority.

- Travis Ishikawa gets the Giants on the board with a bases-loaded triple. Would've been a grand slam in any other park, about 405 feet to right-center. The pitch was not good, a change-up that was meant to go down and away but stayed middle-in, around knee high. I've hear Mike Krukow say that a hanging changeup is OK as long as the batter is fooled by the speed. I think hanging changeups are the ugly cousins of batting practice fastballs.
