A quick announcement before we dissect tonight's game: I've now got a Twitter feed for all my posts, and more. I encourage you to make Lefty Haikus. There's also a permalink in the right-hand column. Muchas thankyous to Elbo for the kickstart.
Braves 8, Giants 1: Question: When does a sinker not sink? Answer: When Brian McCann hits it over the center-field fence.
Ryan Sadowski got creamed tonight, throwing the kind of 88-MPH thigh-high sinker that Travis Ishikawa loves to hit 400 feet. Believe it or not, good things happened, too. John Bowker had only a single but had good at-bats all night. Merkin Valdez threw two scoreless innings and began to use his change-up effectively, according to Mike Krukow. Kruk tends to be effusive to the point of sloppy wet kisses, but he said if Merkin learns the change he could become an "elite" reliever.
Even Sadowski's beating has a silver lining. We now get to see if the kid can bounce back. His next assignment is in Coors Field against the ridiculously hot Rockies. C'mon, Ryan, make us smile.
