ESPN’s Keith Law makes two salient points about The Trade:

1) Alderson’s stuff has slipped and he now projects as a fourth or fifth starter in the majors. Still nothing to sneeze at, but the deal is “not unreasonable.”

2) Sanchez will be a big upgrade if the Giants move Uribe to short and sit Renteria. He will only be a minimal upgrade if Sanchez and Renteria are the middle infielders. Well, whaddya know? Yesterday Bruce Bochy said he’ll sit the ailing Renteria for day games after night games.

You know what would be nice? If Renteria’s elbow makes life (his, ours) unbearable, and he has to go on the DL, Uribe could be the starting SS and Frandsen could come up as the main utility guy.
