Ryan Sadowski up, a ticked-off Rich Aurilia to the DL. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants told him it was either DL or DFA.
But wait, there’s more: Matt Downs up, Kevin Frandsen down. Schulman has his take on the moves here, Baggs here. Looks like both reporters talked to Bochy at the same time, and both got the same sour vibes from Richie.
My take? Small sample size acknowledged, but Downs certainly has shown more pop than Frandsen at the ML level this year. Frandsen’s had some tough luck, but he still hasn’t looked good at the plate. So for the next few games the Giants get a second baseman with power potential, Uribe goes back to super-utility status, and despite Bochy’s denials, Downs gets a little showcase time if other teams have any interest.
And yes, John Bowker stays in the Show. He’s batting second and playing right field tonight.
