Perhaps this is premature speculation -- no, I don't need to ask my doctor about it -- but based on the reports of DeRosa's wrist surgery being a "total failure," it's perfectly valid to ask how the Giants might go about replacing him if he goes on the DL for an extended period of time.
- Option #1: Replace from within. That means Bowker and Torres become the starting platoon.
- Option #2: Call someone up. Someone in Triple-A who hits right-handed, can't imagine who, and convert him into an outfielder pronto.
- Option #3: Sign someone. Jermaine Dye is still out there. Elijah Dukes is a free agent after a surprising cut by Washington.
- Option #4: Make a trade for...?
Give me two answers, if you could: What you would like to happen, and what you think the Giants will actually do.
