SF 6, PIT 4: Boom Boom Boom Goes the Room

Vote 0 Votes

Powerball. Dingerville. Tatertown. Three home runs in one game from the Giants, each one more important than the next? Lawdie Miss Clawdie, I do declare. And all for the benefit of Jonathan Sanchez, who only gave up runs because Buster Posey booted a two-out grounder.

I'm happy for the Ol' Dirty Dirty, shrugging off bad breaks and finally getting some run support. But I'm happier still for Eli Whiteside, who is having the season of his life. He's got a home run every 15 plate appearances, a .586 slugging percentage, and a guaranteed start at least once every five days as Sanchez's personal catcher. Bengie Molina better watch out; it's not Buster Posey who's going to steal his playing time, it's Whiteside.

Thirty year old backup catchers don't get many chances to live the dream; I hope Eli's enjoying every minute.
