Burriss Up, Wellemeyer Down

Vote 0 Votes
Before you thumb your noses at Todd Wellemeyer as he exits, stage left, remember he was perfectly fine as a number-five starter as long as he was on the mound at Mays Field. He had the most precise home-road splits I've ever seen for a pitcher: very good at home, very bad on the road, and practically nothing in between. For their $1 million, the Giants got six solid starts, five crappy ones, and one that ended prematurely with his leg injury.

Manny Burriss will provide some speed and defense, but I'll betcha the Giants preferred to call up Ryan Rohlinger, who (as Baggs reminded me via twitter) was demoted after the trade deadline and can't come back up within a ten-day period. I completely forgot Rohlinger was up recently -- probably because he never came to the plate
